During a public meeting in Doda, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal congratulated Omar Abdullah, the soon-to-be Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
Kejriwal, alongside Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP MP Sanjay Singh, celebrated the election victory of their party’s candidate, Mehraj Malik, who won in the Doda constituency. This win marks AAP’s first legislative seat in the region.
Kejriwal offered to share his experience of managing Delhi, which he described as a “half-state” due to its limited self-governing powers compared to full states in India.
He expressed this in light of the challenges he anticipates Abdullah might face under the current central government’s administration, which he claims allows the Lieutenant Governor more power than the elected government in Jammu and Kashmir.
During his speech, Kejriwal also acknowledged Malik’s success over other candidates, including those from BJP and National Conference, highlighting a significant victory by over 4,538 votes.
He affirmed AAP’s support for Abdullah’s leadership and expressed hope for Jammu and Kashmir’s development under his governance.
