Recent actions by the government have drawn criticism from opposition leaders, who accuse Prime Minister Modi of using the Enforcement Directorate (ED) unfairly. Rahul Gandhi, a key opposition leader, says the ED’s investigations into him are because he has spoken out against Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and businessman Adani.
Similarly, Sharad Pawar of the Samajwadi Party criticized the ED for raiding his family and party members after he spoke against the government. In West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee left a political meeting in protest against Modi, and soon after, the ED arrested TMC leader Anisur Rehman and his brother.
These actions have sparked concerns about whether government departments act for Modi’s benefit rather than India’s good.
