Nabila Syed from Hyderabad has won the second victory in the Illinois House of Representatives in the US elections.
Nabila Syed, 25, has won a second term to represent the 51st District in the Illinois House of Representatives. Nabila hails from Hyderabad and ran for the first time in 2022 at 23, defeating Republican candidate Chris Bose.
In these elections, Nabila secured 22,775 votes (53.28 per cent), while her opponent Bose secured 20,847 votes (47 per cent). On this occasion, non-Muslim voters of Indian origin strongly supported Nabila Syed.
This time, Nabila defeated Republican candidate Tosi Ofodeke with 29,265 votes (55.0 per cent), while her opponent got 23,983 votes (45.0 per cent).
Nabila’s father, Syed Muezuddin, hails from Hyderabad’s Tuli Chowki area and migrated to the US in the 1980s. Nabila was born in Illinois and completed her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, after attending Platine High School.
Nabila has passed 14 bills in the Illinois Assembly, a record. Nabila and her father, Syed Muezuddin, are actively involved in social and national work, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, when both are busy serving the fasting people.
After her recent success, Nabila said, “It is a source of gratitude and pride for me to represent the area where I was born and raised.”
