Chicago – April 20, 2025

Thousands of people across the United States took to the streets on Saturday to protest against President Donald Trump’s policies on deportations, government firings, and the ongoing wars in Gaza and Ukraine. Demonstrators gathered in Washington, D.C., and other major cities, voicing their opposition to the administration’s actions.

Outside the White House, protesters held banners with messages like “Workers should have the power,” “No kingship,” “Stop arming Israel,” and “Due process.” Some chanted in support of migrants who have been deported or are at risk of deportation, as well as those who have been fired by the federal government. There were also expressions of solidarity with universities that face threats of losing federal funding due to their diversity and inclusion programs.

Among the crowd, many waved Palestinian flags and wore keffiyeh scarves, chanting “Free Palestine” in solidarity with Palestinians affected by the conflict in Gaza. In addition, protesters condemned the Trump administration’s detention of foreign students and its threats to cut funding to universities involved in climate initiatives or pro-Palestinian activism.

Near the Washington Monument, protesters displayed signs with slogans like “Hate never made any nation great” and “Equal rights for all does not mean less rights for you.” Similar protests were held in cities such as New York City and Chicago, marking the second day of nationwide demonstrations since Trump took office.
