Chicago – August 08, 2025

The U.S. Department of Justice has started a federal investigation into New York Attorney General Letitia James. This comes after she won a civil fraud case against former President Donald Trump and his companies, resulting in millions of dollars in penalties for fraud.

Sources say the investigation is being led by the top federal prosecutor in Albany, New York. The Justice Department wants more details about the case James won against Trump and his businesses. They are looking into whether James took away the rights of Trump and his children during the legal process.

Abbe Lowell, a lawyer for James, called the investigation a clear example of political retribution, claiming that the Department of Justice is trying to punish James for doing her job. He said this investigation is an attack on the rule of law and is a dangerous step forward in political conflicts.
