Over 90 prominent Muslim scholars, imams, community leaders, and major Islamic institutions in the United States have jointly called on Muslim-majority countries to take urgent, concrete measures to halt what they describe as a genocide in Gaza committed by Israeli forces.
In their statement, the signatories—including the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the Muslim Alliance in North America, and the Islamic Society of North America—urged Muslim nations, especially those in the Arab world, to leverage their substantial economic and political influence.
Among the five specific recommendations, the coalition called for Muslim countries to sever economic, diplomatic, military, and intelligence ties with Israel—including suspending the Abraham Accords, which normalized relations between some Arab states and Israel. Further actions suggested include imposing oil and gas embargoes, blocking the use of national airspace and military bases for Israeli operations, and opening crucial land borders such as Rafah to allow humanitarian convoys into Gaza.
The statement emphasized that “business as usual in international affairs is simply not working,” urging Muslim governments to act independently and lead diplomatic initiatives at Gaza’s border crossings to demand unrestricted humanitarian access.
