Chicago – April 09, 2025
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that it will start reviewing immigrants’ social media accounts to look for signs of antisemitic activity.
This new policy will apply to people applying for permanent residency and foreigners linked to educational institutions. The policy takes effect immediately.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, the goal is to protect the U.S. from extremists, including those who support violent antisemitic groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, and others.
The announcement follows the arrests of pro-Palestinian student activists, such as Mahmoud Khalil and Rumeysa Ozturk, who are accused of engaging in antisemitic activities. Their lawyers have denied these claims.
