Vice President Kamala Harris plans to visit Augusta, Georgia, this Wednesday to see the damage caused by Hurricane Helene’s flooding. She will look at the destruction and learn about the recovery efforts.
The White House announced that she will also talk about how the federal government is helping Georgia and other Southeastern states respond to the emergency.
In addition to her Georgia trip, Vice President Harris will soon visit North Carolina. This state’s western area, including Asheville, was also hit hard by the storm. The White House official confirmed her upcoming travel plans.
President Joe Biden will also be involved in storm response efforts. He is scheduled to visit both North Carolina and South Carolina this Wednesday. He will assess the hurricane’s damage and discuss federal aid. Both Biden and Harris have delayed their visits to ensure they do not interfere with initial emergency responses.
The effectiveness and speed of federal help could influence voters in the important election states of North Carolina and Georgia, as both have suffered from the hurricane’s impact.
