US Judge Orders Trump Administration to Bring Back Guatemalan Man
A US federal judge ordered the Trump administration to bring back a Guatemalan man they wrongfully deported to Mexico. The man, known as O.C.G., is gay and had been granted protection from removal to Guatemala due to fears of persecution. However, despite this protection, he was sent to Mexico, where he had previously been raped and kidnapped.

Wrongful Deportation Raises Concerns
Judge Brian Murphy ruled that O.C.G.’s deportation likely “lacked any semblance of due process.” The judge was highly critical of the administration’s actions, calling the case a “banal horror” and stating that O.C.G. did not receive the due process he was entitled to. The Trump administration claims Mexico was a “safe third option” for O.C.G., but the judge disagreed. This case highlights concerns about the administration’s deportation policies and potential risks to vulnerable individuals.

Larger Implications
This case is part of a larger issue with the Trump administration’s deportation policies. There have been other instances of wrongful deportations, including the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an El Salvadoran who was mistakenly deported despite having lived in the US for 14 years. The Supreme Court ordered the administration to facilitate Garcia’s return. The Trump administration’s actions have faced pushback from federal courts, raising questions about accountability and the treatment of asylum seekers.
