Wealthy Foreigners Interested in “Gold Card”
Rich people from around the world are calling lawyers to learn about the “Gold Card,” a special visa that lets them live and work in the US. For $5 million, they can skip the usual hassle and get a green card. Lawyers say the price isn’t a problem for these wealthy clients.

Benefits of the Gold Card
The Gold Card offers an express lane to permanent residency and favorable tax implications. Foreign nationals with a Gold Card would only be taxed on their US earnings. Some clients think the card will come with special perks, like VIP treatment at airports and easy loans.

Clients See Gold Card as a Status Symbol
Lawyers say clients are drawn to the security and status of having a Gold Card. They imagine it will give them special treatment and privileges. The president mentioned “privileges-plus,” but it’s unclear what that means. Clients think it might mean they’ll get special treatment everywhere they go, like a red-carpet visa.
