Israel Approves Plan to Take Control of Gaza City

Israel’s government has agreed to a plan to seize control of Gaza City, expanding its military operations in the ongoing war with Hamas. The decision was made early Friday by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s security cabinet, despite growing criticism from around the world. The war, which has lasted nearly two years, has caused widespread destruction in Gaza, leaving many civilians starving and homeless.

Netanyahu’s far-right allies have been pushing for a full takeover of Gaza to eliminate Hamas, but the military warns this could endanger the lives of Israeli hostages still held by the group. Recent attempts to negotiate a ceasefire have failed, and disturbing images of malnourished Palestinian children have sparked global outrage over the worsening humanitarian crisis. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) say they will provide aid to civilians outside combat zones while carrying out the operation.

While Netanyahu has said Israel plans to take full military control of all Gaza, the new plan focuses first on Gaza City, the largest urban area in the territory. The city has already suffered heavy damage from months of fighting, and the new offensive could lead to even more casualties. As international pressure grows, Israel remains determined to continue its campaign, leaving many worried about the future of Gaza’s civilians.
