Chicago – September 08, 2025

Former President Donald Trump made an appearance at the U.S. Open on Sunday, drawing both applause and jeers from the crowd as he briefly stepped out from a luxury box to wave. The moment came ahead of the men’s singles final at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York, where much of the audience was still arriving and settling into their seats.

Trump, who frequently makes headlines when attending sporting events, offered a wave to the spectators before returning to the box. Reaction from those in attendance was noticeably divided, with audible cheers mingling with a chorus of boos that rippled through the stadium.

The former president’s presence underscored the continuing intersection of politics and sports, a trend that has become increasingly common in recent years.

While Trump has previously attended major sporting events such as college football games and boxing matches, his U.S. Open appearance highlighted both his enduring popularity among supporters and the polarizing response he commands among the public.

The men’s final proceeded without interruption, concluding two weeks of competition at one of tennis’s most celebrated championships.
