Chicago – October 15, 2025

President Donald Trump warned on October 15 that Israeli forces could resume fighting in Gaza “as soon as I say the word” if Hamas fails to uphold the ceasefire deal. Speaking in a phone conversation with CNN, Trump underscored the urgency of resolving issues with Hamas swiftly, particularly regarding the release of hostages. While 20 living Israeli hostages had been returned, Hamas has only provided remains of four individuals, with ongoing negotiations for additional bodies.

Trump stressed that the release of living hostages was “paramount” and reiterated his peace plan, which calls for Hamas to disarm and foresees Gaza being demilitarized with independent oversight. He emphasized that those Hamas members who peacefully coexist and disarm would be granted amnesty, with safe passage offered to those who wish to leave Gaza.

The president also revealed that he had to hold back Israeli military action despite frustrations with Prime Minister Netanyahu, indicating a potential for renewed conflict if Hamas does not comply with the ceasefire terms. Trump remains optimistic about long-term peace prospects, highlighting support from 59 nations involved in the ceasefire agreement .
