Chicago – March 09, 2026

A Muslim woman, Roshan Khatoon from Amhi village in Madhubani district’s Ghoghardiha, died on March 1 at Patna Medical College and Hospital after a brutal Hindu mob assault.

On February 28, Khatoon visited village head Kumari Devi to resolve a local dispute but was allegedly attacked by the head’s son, Manu Singh, and a mob. Eyewitnesses reported she was tied to a pole, severely beaten, and abused while fasting for Ramadan; when requesting water, she was forced to drink urine mixed with alcohol.

Police have filed an FIR, detained Manu Singh for questioning, and are identifying others involved, promising strict action amid unconfirmed details. Khatoon’s husband demands the death penalty, while Mansuri community leader Ajay Mansuri vows legal pursuit for justice.

The incident has sparked outrage, with heightened security in the area.
