Chicago – March 14, 2026

Olympic bobsledder Kaillie Humphries has ignited controversy after presenting President Donald Trump with the prestigious Order of Ikkos at a White House Women’s History Month event on Thursday. The 40-year-old, who won two bronze medals at the recent Milano Cortina Olympics, praised Trump for his policies protecting women’s sports and expanding IVF access.

The Order of Ikkos, created by the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee in 2008, honors mentors instrumental to an athlete’s success. Humphries, emotional during the presentation, highlighted Trump’s February 2025 executive orders excluding transgender women from female competitions and reducing IVF costs, calling him the first president to receive the award. She added, “Isn’t he just the best?” as Trump replied, “I knew I liked her.”

Video of the event spread rapidly online, drawing sharp criticism, especially from Canadian users referencing her past golds for Canada before switching allegiance in 2019. Comments included “I’m embarrassed for Canada. You can keep her.”

Humphries responded calmly: “I’m used to having a target on my back… It’s ok to have different opinions, but when it turns to hate, that’s when I choose to ignore.”
