Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd is calling on federal immigration authorities to work more closely with local law enforcement to keep communities safe from illegal immigrant criminals. Sheriff Judd believes local departments could be a huge help to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in carrying out President Donald Trump’s promise to deport illegal immigrants.

The sheriff emphasized the need for federal authorities to provide infrastructure to house migrants. “There’s got to be a way to house these folks at the federal level because we can arrest them in large numbers,” he said. Sheriff Judd also pointed out that there are 1.4 million people with federal warrants or removal orders, and if identified, they can be picked up.

Sheriff Judd praised Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and state lawmakers for creating legislation to ensure every government in Florida cooperates with federal immigration authorities.
