Chicago – February 15, 2025

U.S. President Donald Trump did not invite Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to his oath-taking ceremony because Modi does not qualify for it.

Some experts believe that Trump feels Modi was using their friendship to make himself look important. In past elections, Trump spoke to Indian-American voters with Modi’s help, but this time, he didn’t.

Another reason for the tension is that India’s spy agency was accused of planning attacks on people in the U.S. and Canada. This upset both countries. Also, India wanted to stop using the U.S. dollar for global trade, which made America unhappy.

Even though India later changed its mind about the dollar, the damage was already done. It seems like Trump is sure that Modi isn’t qualified enough to build US-India relations.
