President Donald Trump is set to address a joint session of Congress on Tuesday, marking a significant milestone in his presidency. This speech comes as the nation remains deeply divided, with some Americans expressing fears about the country’s future, while others continue to support Trump’s policies.
According to the White House, Trump’s theme will be the “renewal of the American dream.” He is expected to highlight his achievements since returning to the White House and appeal to Congress for additional funding to support his aggressive immigration crackdown.
Senior adviser Stephen Miller described the speech as an opportunity for Trump to showcase his “record-setting, record-breaking, unprecedented achievements and accomplishments” over the past month.
However, not everyone shares Miller’s enthusiasm. Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer criticized Trump’s focus on tax cuts for billionaires, which he claims are paid for by the very people Trump promised to help.
