In a shocking turn of events, Europe has been forced to reevaluate its defense strategies after a series of blunt comments from the United States. The wake-up call came when Donald Trump publicly criticized Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky, leaving European leaders feeling stunned and concerned.

The comments sparked widespread outrage, with European lawmaker Raphaël Glucksmann comparing the incident to a hypothetical scenario where President Roosevelt bullied Winston Churchill during a White House visit.

The controversy was further fueled when US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth called Europe “PATHETIC” for relying too heavily on the US for defense. The remark was made in a group chat that inadvertently included a journalist.

In response to these comments, Europe has begun to shatter decades-old taboos on defense. Germany, Europe’s largest economy, has taken the biggest step by scrapping its constitutional “debt brake” – a mechanism that limits government borrowing.
