Chicago – August 09, 2026

Suisun City, California, has declared a state of emergency after malicious software disrupted city computer systems and affected the routing of 911 emergency calls, creating serious concerns for public safety.

The cyberattack disrupted police and fire dispatch operations, forcing emergency dispatchers to shift operations to the Solano County dispatch center while first responders continued handling calls for service. Officials have not yet disclosed who was responsible for the attack or whether sensitive information was stolen.

The incident highlights the growing vulnerability of local governments and emergency services to cyberattacks. Unlike many previous municipal ransomware incidents, the Suisun City attack directly affected emergency communications, increasing the potential risks for residents needing immediate assistance.

Authorities are working to restore affected systems and investigate the breach. The emergency declaration is expected to help the city coordinate resources and obtain additional support as officials work to secure its networks and return services to normal.
