President Donald Trump is facing criticism after posting a message on his Truth Social network that some say sounds like something a dictator would say. Trump wrote, “He who saves his Country does not violate any Law,” which is a phrase similar to one said by France’s Napoleon Bonaparte.
Democrats quickly spoke out against Trump’s post. Senator Adam Schiff called it “spoken like a true dictator.” Trump’s message is seen as a sign that he will continue to fight against limits on his power as president, even if it means going against the courts.
Some lawsuits say Trump is taking power that belongs to Congress, as stated in the US Constitution. Trump says he follows court decisions, but his advisors have criticized judges on social media and called for them to be impeached. Vice President JD Vance recently wrote that judges shouldn’t be able to control the president’s power.
