Miguel Díaz-Canel has warned that any military action by the United States against Cuba would lead to a “bloodbath,” amid rising tensions between the two countries.
In a televised address, the Cuban president said Havana would strongly resist any foreign intervention and accused Washington of increasing pressure on the island through sanctions and political hostility. He added that Cuba does not seek conflict but would defend its sovereignty if attacked.
The remarks come as relations between Cuba and the US remain strained over economic sanctions, migration issues, and regional security concerns. Cuban officials have repeatedly criticized US policies, while Washington continues to accuse Havana of human rights abuses and authoritarian practices.
Despite the sharp rhetoric, analysts say both governments are likely to avoid direct military confrontation, though tensions continue to fuel uncertainty across the region.
