Nancy Pelosi, once a leading figure in the Democratic Party, is now experiencing tensions with President Biden and other members of her party. President Biden recently chose to step aside from running again after many Democratic lawmakers suggested he should not continue. Reports indicate that Pelosi played a significant role in this decision.
Relations between Pelosi and Biden have cooled since then. After the Vice President, Kamala Harris, lost her bid, Pelosi suggested that things might have gone differently if Biden had withdrawn sooner. She expressed this view during an interview with The New York Times’ podcast “The Interview,” stating that an earlier withdrawal by Biden could have opened the door for other candidates.
Meanwhile, some Democrats are showing signs of frustration with Pelosi. A recent Axios article titled “Scoop: House Dems sick of Pelosi,” describes how some members wish Pelosi would step back, as she had indicated she would after losing her leadership position two years ago.
Despite her controversial comments, a spokesperson for Pelosi stated that she supports the current House Democratic Leader, Hakeem Jeffries, and praised the progress made under his leadership.
