Swami Vivekananda’s Thoughts on Beef Consumption
Swami Vivekananda, a famous Indian spiritual leader, had interesting views on beef eating. He studied old Hindu texts and found that, a long time ago, some Hindus used to eat beef on special occasions. In fact, even Brahmins, who are considered a high class in Hindu society, ate beef.

Changing Times and Customs
Vivekananda explained that as India became more agricultural, people stopped eating beef to protect cows, which were needed for farming. He believed that morality and customs change over time based on circumstances. He thought that eating beef was once necessary due to the climate and food needs, but later it became unacceptable.

Vivekananda’s Teachings
Although Vivekananda talked about beef eating in the past, he didn’t encourage people to eat it in modern India. Instead, he focused on teaching people about spirituality, social reform, and unity among all religions. His teachings were about personal growth and being a good person, rather than about specific foods.
