The US technology industry, once a beacon of stability, has been hit hard by widespread layoffs. According to recent reports, over 437 tech companies have let go of approximately 137,500 employees. This surge in job cuts has created a tough job market, disproportionately affecting Indian workers in the US, many of whom are on H-1B visas.

For Indian professionals on H-1B visas, losing their job can be especially challenging. These visas require workers to find new employment within a limited timeframe, or risk having to leave the country. To make matters worse, many Indian workers face extremely long wait times for green cards, sometimes exceeding 190 years, even after meeting all the necessary requirements.

The impact of these layoffs and visa challenges is being felt deeply within the Indian diaspora community. Many Indian professionals are now facing uncertain futures, struggling to find new employment and navigate the complex US immigration system.
