In a powerful speech during a Lok Sabha debate, Samajwadi Party MP Iqra Hasan Choudhary strongly criticized the Uttar Pradesh government for its handling of the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. Choudhary expressed deep concern over the growing incidents of violence against minority communities, particularly Muslims, which she blames on the government’s negligence and hate speeches from senior political leaders.
Choudhary highlighted the alarming rise in violence, citing tragic incidents in Sambhal where five Muslims were reportedly shot dead while protesting a survey of a grand mosque. She criticized the Uttar Pradesh police for failing to prevent such incidents and accused the BJP government of remaining silent on extra-judicial killings of Muslims.
The lawmaker also condemned the surge in hate speeches from far-right leaders, including Yati Narsinghanand, who has made inflammatory remarks against Muslims and Islam without facing legal repercussions. Choudhary argued that such unchecked provocations contribute to a hostile environment and violence against minorities.
Choudhary emphasized the urgent need for accountability from political leaders and law enforcement to ensure safety and justice for all citizens, regardless of region or caste. She concluded her speech with an Urdu poem, shedding light on the struggles faced by marginalized communities in India.
