French President Emmanuel Macron has suggested that former U.S. President Donald Trump should focus on ending the Gaza war if he truly aspires to win the Nobel Peace Prize.
Speaking during a press interaction in New York following the UN General Assembly, Macron emphasized that global leaders must prioritize peacebuilding efforts in conflicts that are destabilizing international security.
When questioned about Trump’s recent remarks hinting at his desire for the prestigious award, Macron responded that peace in Gaza could serve as the ultimate test of leadership.
“If he wants to be seen as a peacemaker, let him bring an end to the war in Gaza. That would be the greatest service to the world,” Macron said, noting that diplomacy requires more than ambition—it requires results.
The renewed fighting in Gaza has left thousands dead and displaced, drawing international criticism and calls for a ceasefire. Macron has maintained ongoing communication with regional leaders, urging humanitarian pauses and long-term negotiations. His statement indirectly challenges Trump to use his global influence to push for solutions rather than symbolic recognition.
