Chicago – September 24, 2025

In a notable shift, former U.S. President Donald Trump expressed confidence that Ukraine can reclaim all of its territory following a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The meeting, which took place on the sidelines of a diplomatic forum, appeared to mark a change in Trump’s previous skepticism about Kyiv’s ability to fully repel Russian advances.

Trump told reporters that after hearing directly from Zelenskyy about Ukraine’s military progress and strategy, he now believes the country has a real chance of regaining control over areas occupied by Russian forces.

“I was impressed with the determination and optimism he conveyed,” Trump said, underscoring his new view that a Ukrainian victory is achievable.

The remarks come at a crucial time for Kyiv, as it continues to push Western allies for sustained military and financial support.

Political analysts say Trump’s endorsement may influence ongoing debates in Washington regarding U.S. assistance for Ukraine. For Zelenskyy, the statement represents a rare show of bipartisan validation in American politics, further strengthening Ukraine’s message to the international community.
