Rep. Josh Gottheimer from New Jersey, a member of the Democratic Party, has announced his plan to run for governor in 2025. In his announcement, he expressed strong opinions about President-elect Donald Trump, particularly criticizing Trump’s views on issues like abortion, environmental protection, and gun safety.
Gottheimer, who represents New Jersey’s 5th Congressional District, emphasized that all candidates in the race share common goals on important matters such as healthcare and gun safety.
However, he highlighted abortion rights as a key area where he intends to confront Trump’s policies, which he sees as extreme attacks on women’s healthcare rights. He stressed the importance of reinstating Roe v. Wade.
Aside from these national issues, Gottheimer also focused on local concerns, particularly the high cost of living in New Jersey. He pointed out that New Jersey is the fourth most expensive state in the U.S., and as governor, his main goal would be to reduce taxes and living costs for its residents.
He believes that, unlike his opponents, he has a clear and dedicated plan to make life more affordable for New Jerseyans.
