President-elect Trump has chosen former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi as the new U.S. Attorney General. This decision came after Matt Gaetz, previously selected for the role, stepped down due to controversies involving allegations against him.
Trump praised Pam Bondi for her nearly 20 years as a tough prosecutor against violent crimes in Florida, noting her significant contributions to making the state safer. As Florida’s first female Attorney General, she focused on combating drug trafficking and reducing deaths caused by Fentanyl overdoses.
Trump also mentioned her effective role on the Opioid and Drug Abuse Commission during his first term, which helped save many lives.
In his announcement, Trump highlighted that under Bondi’s leadership, the Department of Justice would concentrate on fighting crime and enhancing safety in America, moving away from what he described as its previous partisan misuse.
Following the announcement, Matt Gaetz expressed his support for Bondi on social media platform X, describing her as a stellar choice and praising her proven skills in litigation and leadership. He believes Bondi will introduce necessary reforms to the Department of Justice.
