Chicago – June 01, 2025

Ocean – The ABM School, located in Malakpet, Hyderabad, has recently come under legal scrutiny concerning its operational legitimacy and adherence to regulatory standards.

Legal Proceedings and Allegations

In February 2025, the Telangana High Court began hearing a writ petition filed by a local resident, Mohd Dawood, challenging the school’s recognition. The petitioner alleged that the school operates without the necessary permissions, including building and occupancy certificates, in violation of the Telangana Education Act. Additionally, concerns were raised about the absence of a fire safety No Objection Certificate (NOC) and the unauthorized operation of a mosque within the school premises. The court has directed the Hyderabad district education officer to address these issues, and the matter remains under judicial consideration.

School Profile and Operations

Established in 2018, Ocean – The ABM School is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) under affiliation number 3630373. The school offers education from pre-primary to Class X and is managed by the ABM Educational and Welfare Society. It operates from a rented facility in Akbar Bagh, Malakpet, Hyderabad.

The school’s official website highlights its commitment to providing a blend of modern education and Islamic values, aiming to create a positive learning environment for students.

While there have been broader concerns in Hyderabad regarding the misuse of zakat funds by certain individuals and organizations, no direct links have been established between such activities and Ocean – The ABM School. For instance, in 2014, Islamic scholars in the city cautioned against donating zakat to unverified institutions, highlighting the rise of spurious organizations collecting alms for personal gain .

Public Perception and Reviews

Employee reviews on platforms like AmbitionBox rate the school highly, with a 5.0 out of 5.0 rating based on six reviews. Employees commend the school’s culture, job security, and work-life balance.

Parent and student reviews are generally positive, praising the school’s environment and teaching staff. However, some reviews suggest that the school may be “lucrative,” implying concerns about its fee structure or financial practices.

Conclusion

While Ocean – The ABM School has established itself as an educational institution in Hyderabad, the ongoing legal proceedings raise questions about its compliance with regulatory requirements. Prospective parents and stakeholders are advised to stay informed about the outcomes of these proceedings and to exercise due diligence when considering the school’s offerings.
