United States President Donald Trump has announced that his administration will sign a rare earths deal with Ukraine “very shortly.” This deal will give the US access to Ukraine’s natural resources, including rare earth minerals used in electronics, batteries, and magnets.

The agreement was initially delayed due to a disagreement between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. However, Zelenskyy recently stated that Ukraine is “ready to sign” the deal, but wants to ensure that Ukraine’s position is heard.

Trump has been pushing for the deal as part of his efforts to bring a swift end to the war in Ukraine. The US and Ukraine have also agreed to pause attacks on energy infrastructure, a plan that has been accepted by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In a recent address at the White House, Trump expressed optimism about the peace deal, saying that efforts are going “pretty well.” The rare earths deal is expected to be signed soon, marking a significant step forward in US-Ukraine relations.
