Chicago – July 11, 2026

U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning to Iran after the funeral of Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, featured public calls for his assassination. During the ceremony in Tehran, attended by hundreds of thousands of mourners, a speaker openly questioned why Trump was still alive, prompting chants of “Death to America” and “Death to Israel” from sections of the crowd. Posters and slogans calling for the killing of Trump were also visible.

In response, Trump said the United States was prepared to retaliate decisively if Iran or its proxies attempted to target him. He claimed that military assets were ready to respond to any such threat and reiterated Washington’s commitment to protecting American interests.

The exchange has further heightened tensions between the two countries as diplomatic efforts to stabilize the region and revive negotiations remain fragile.
