Chicago – September 11, 2026

Twenty-five years after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, America pauses to remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives and the countless families and communities forever changed by the tragedy.

Across the country, memorial ceremonies are being held to honor the victims and recognize the firefighters, police officers, emergency workers and ordinary citizens who responded during one of the darkest days in American history.

At the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in New York, names of the victims are remembered as families gather to reflect on their loved ones. The Pentagon and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, also remain important sites of remembrance.

For many Americans, 9/11 represents not only a devastating loss but also a moment when communities came together in grief, courage and solidarity. Twenty-five years later, the attacks remain deeply embedded in the nation’s collective memory, with each anniversary serving as a reminder of the human cost of terrorism and the importance of remembering those who were lost.
