US President Donald Trump’s vision for Gaza’s future has become increasingly unclear, with his latest statement appearing to contradict previous plans to relocate Palestinians. On Wednesday, Trump told reporters, “Nobody is expelling any Palestinians” from the enclave, sparking confusion over his administration’s intentions.
This statement seems to backtrack on Trump’s previous proposals, which included relocating Gaza’s 2.1 million Palestinians to Arab states like Egypt and Jordan. He had also suggested that the US take control of the Strip and transform it into a Middle Eastern “Riviera.” Trump described this plan as moving Palestinians to a “beautiful location” with new homes, safety, and access to medical care.
However, after facing opposition from Egyptian and Jordanian leaders, Trump downplayed his initial proposal, calling it merely a suggestion. The US president’s contradictory comments have raised questions about the actual shift in US foreign policy regarding Gaza.
