A United Airlines flight carrying nearly 200 passengers made an unexpected landing at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey due to a possible mechanical issue. The Boeing 757 aircraft took off from Newark Airport at 6 a.m. bound for Las Vegas but turned back just an hour into the flight.
According to a spokesperson for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the pilots safely landed the plane, and all passengers disembarked normally at the gate. United Airlines provided a replacement aircraft to continue the journey to Las Vegas.
The airline has not disclosed the nature of the mechanical issue that prompted the emergency landing. This incident is the latest in a series of concerning air travel incidents in the United States.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the passengers were able to continue their travel with minimal disruption. The incident is currently under investigation to determine the cause of the mechanical issue.
