Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth supports President Donald Trump’s proposal to take control of the Gaza Strip. Trump wants to “take over” the area, level it, and rebuild it. He believes this could make Gaza the “Riviera of the Middle East.”

Hegseth says that getting rid of Hamas is Israel’s job. Once that’s done, the US can discuss what to do with Gaza next. He thinks the president is an “outside-the-box thinker” who is willing to try new things.

Trump says the US would “own” Gaza and be in charge of removing dangerous bombs and weapons. When asked if US troops would be sent to Gaza, Trump said the US would do what’s necessary.

Many people are concerned about Trump’s plan, saying it could cause more violence and problems in the area. Some countries, including Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt, have already spoken out against the idea .
