Chicago – October 13, 2025

US President Donald Trump, alongside over 20 world leaders, signed a historic ceasefire agreement aimed at ending the brutal conflict in Gaza. The signing took place at a peace summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, following the release of the last 20 living Israeli hostages from Hamas captivity.

Trump hailed the moment as a “dawn of a new Middle East,” emphasizing that the conflict had reached a turning point that could lead to long-term peace.

As part of the deal, Israel released approximately 250 Palestinian prisoners and over 1,700 detainees, while Hamas fulfilled its commitment to return Israeli hostages. Emotional reunions were witnessed across Israel as freed hostages embraced their families, and in Gaza as released Palestinians were welcomed home.

The ceasefire, brokered by the US and regional mediators including Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, calls for halting military operations and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza. Trump described the deal as “an unprecedented achievement thousands of years in the making,” while cautioning that rebuilding Gaza and securing lasting peace would be the next crucial challenges.
