President Joe Biden announced in a CBS interview on Sunday that he would actively support Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in her campaign, especially in Pennsylvania, a critical state for the upcoming November election.
This is Biden’s first interview since he withdrew from the presidential race in late July, citing concerns about U.S. democracy. According to recent New York Times and Siena College polls, Harris is leading Republican candidate Donald Trump by four points in Pennsylvania. He holds a narrow lead in Wisconsin and Michigan.
Biden confirmed that he would campaign for Harris and is working with Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro to plan a tour in the state. He added that he would also campaign in other states, following Harris’s guidance on where his support is most needed. According to the White House, Biden and Harris are scheduled to appear together in Maryland on Thursday to discuss efforts to reduce costs for Americans.
