With the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) village committee elections, the Congress party held a major rally in Agartala on Saturday as part of its “Sanhati Padayatra” to promote peace and unity.
Congress leaders encouraged people to support “Mohabbat ka dukan” (an outlet of love) over divisive politics.
The Sanhati Padayatra is a nationwide campaign that began on October 31 in memory of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and will continue until her birth anniversary on November 19.
Senior Congress figures led the rally, including state president Ashish Kumar Saha and Congress Working Committee (CWC) member Sudip Roy Barman. They argued that polarization has increased under the current BJP government.
In his speech, Roy Barman highlighted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s message of love, urging people to reject hatred and embrace unity. “Congress stands for peace and love,” he said, stressing the importance of defeating forces that divide people by religion, language, or culture.
The rally moved through the streets of Agartala, sharing the Congress party’s vision of harmony and togetherness.
