Chicago – October 10, 2025

A devastating explosion rocked Accurate Energetic Systems, a military explosives manufacturing plant in Tennessee, on Friday morning, leaving multiple people dead and 19 others missing, officials reported. The blast occurred around 7:45 a.m. at the facility located near Bucksnort in Hickman County, about 60 miles southwest of Nashville.

Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis described the scene as one of the most devastating he had witnessed in his career, stating that one of the plant’s buildings was completely destroyed. Emergency responders faced challenges at the site due to secondary explosions, which delayed rescue efforts. Four or five injured individuals were hospitalized.

Accurate Energetic Systems, which produces explosives for military, aerospace, and commercial use, temporarily ceased operations as investigators, including the FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, launched a probe to determine the cause of the explosion.

Authorities continue to search for the 19 missing individuals amid concerns they may have perished in the blast. Residents miles away reported feeling the explosion, which scattered debris and charred shells across the site. The investigation is expected to take several days.
