Chicago – June 03, 2026

Legendary R&B singer Peabo Bryson has died at age 75 after suffering a stroke. His family confirmed the death on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at a hospital in Marietta, Georgia.

Bryson, a two-time Grammy Award winner, was best known for his iconic Disney duets that defined a generation. He sang the Oscar-winning “Beauty and the Beast” with Céline Dion and “A Whole New World” with Regina Belle for Aladdin. These ballads became cultural touchstones for millions worldwide.

Born Robert Peapo Bryson on April 13, 1951, in Greenville, South Carolina, he enjoyed a five-decade career spanning R&B, soul, and pop. His smooth tenor voice and operatic control produced classics including “Tonight I Celebrate My Love” with Roberta Flack and “Can You Stop the Rain”.

“While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing how deeply Peabo was loved,” his family said in a statement. He is survived by his wife Tanya Boniface Bryson, two children, and grandchildren. Céline Dion has already paid tribute to her former duet partner. Memorial arrangements will be announced later.
