Sanjay Singh, AAP leader and Rajya Sabha member, has shown a positive response to reports of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s interest in forming an alliance with the AAP for the upcoming assembly elections in Haryana. Singh stressed that defeating the BJP is a major goal for the opposition parties and mentioned that any final decisions about the alliance would need approval from AAP’s national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Reports indicate that during a Congress Central Election Committee meeting, Gandhi expressed his support for a potential alliance with the AAP for the Haryana elections, scheduled for October 5, with vote counting to follow on October 8.
Singh highlighted that combating the BJP’s adverse policies is crucial for the welfare of the public, especially farmers and youth. However, AAP’s official position will be confirmed by Sandeep Pathak and Sushil Gupta, who oversee AAP’s activities in Haryana.
Despite this, some Congress leaders in Haryana, like Kumari Selja, have dismissed the idea of an alliance, claiming the Congress is strong enough to contest alone. Previously, the Congress and AAP had collaborated in the Lok Sabha elections across several states, including Haryana.
