Former President Jimmy Carter has passed away at the age of 100. He died on Sunday in his hometown of Plains, Georgia. His wife, Rosalynn Carter, who was with him for 77 years, died last November in their home they built in 1961.
Jimmy Carter was the 39th president of the United States and is remembered more for his global humanitarian work after his presidency than his time in office. He had a long political career and was the oldest living former U.S. president until his passing.

Plans are now being made for his memorial services, which will include public gatherings in Atlanta and Washington,
D.C. President Joe Biden has ordered an official state funeral in Washington, D.C., to honor him. Details about the funeral will be released later, and the public can visit an official tribute website to learn more about Jimmy Carter’s life and leave messages of condolence.
