Historian Allan Lichtman, who has correctly guessed nine out of the last ten presidential elections, said on Saturday that replacing President Joe Biden could make the Democrats lose the 2024 election.
Lichtman, who teaches at American University, disagreed with the growing number of political experts and Democratic supporters who want Biden, 81, to quit the race after a bad debate against former President Donald Trump. The discussion made people worry more about Biden’s age and if he could handle a second term.
In an interview with CNN, Lichtman said it would be a big mistake to replace Biden. “They’re not doctors. They don’t know if Biden is able to do a second term or not,” he said. “This is all silly talk.”
Lichtman has almost always predicted the winner of presidential elections for the last fifty years, except for the 2000 race. He uses 13 historical factors, or “keys,” to make his predictions.
