Chicago – August 22, 2024
Vice President Kamala Harris is set to make history on Thursday night as she formally accepts the Democratic presidential nomination. This follows President Biden’s decision to suspend his campaign after winning the 2024 Democratic primaries, reportedly due to internal party pressure.
Harris will deliver her acceptance speech during a primetime address at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago. By the end of the night, Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, will officially represent the Democrats in the upcoming general election against Republican candidates, former President Donald Trump and Senator JD Vance of Ohio.
Earlier in the week, Harris praised President Biden and expressed gratitude for his leadership. She has been actively campaigning and recently proposed raising the corporate tax rate as part of her economic plan. Harris has received strong backing from key Democratic leaders and Hollywood celebrities in the lead-up to her nomination acceptance.
