Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un
With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Sher Mohamed Rajput, a respected figure and pioneer in the Indian-American community. He returned to his Creator last night at 10 PM. Born in Bikaner, Rajasthan, India, Mr. Rajput made history as the first Muslim Democrat member in Chicago.
After completing his graduation, he moved to Bloomington, Indiana, in 1968, where he pursued an MBA in Finance. Following his MBA, he joined New York Life Insurance in Chicago, where he dedicated almost 30 years of his life until his retirement in 2020.
In addition to his successful career, Mr. Rajput was a visionary who dedicated his life to public service, justice, and community empowerment. He was the founder of East West University in Chicago, Illinois, and also founded the Federation of India @ America (FIA). He was an active member of the Muslim Community Center (MCC) Eastern Chicago.
His contributions left a lasting legacy, and his absence marks the end of an era. Mr. Rajput is survived by his loving wife, two daughters, and two sons. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Please keep him in your prayers and ask Allah (SWT) to grant him Magfirah and Jannatul Firdaus. May Allah grant patience to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
