The Telangana state cabinet led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is set to expand soon, likely in a day or two, pending approval from the Congress high command. On Wednesday afternoon, Reddy traveled to New Delhi with a list of potential new ministers.
At the same time, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also arrived in Delhi and is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday. The two Telugu-speaking state leaders’ presence in the capital is a coincidence, but they are expected to meet in Hyderabad later this week to address unresolved issues between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
On Wednesday evening, Revanth Reddy met with All India Congress Committee President Mallikarjun Kharge to discuss the cabinet expansion.
A party insider revealed, “The names of the new ministers will likely be finalized by Thursday. The chief minister, who met with state governor CP Radhakrishnan on Monday, already hinted that the cabinet expansion could happen this weekend.”
The developments indicate that the Telangana cabinet may soon see new faces, pending the final nod from the Congress leadership.
