President-elect Donald Trump criticized President Biden’s recent policy actions during an interview with Hugh Hewitt on Monday. Trump particularly focused on Biden’s decision to ban oil and gas drilling across 625 million acres of U.S. coastal territory, calling it “ridiculous.”
Trump argued that he could reverse the ban immediately upon taking office, saying, “I have the right to un-ban it immediately.”
Biden announced the ban as part of his efforts to protect offshore areas, including parts of the East and West Coasts, the eastern Gulf of Mexico, and Alaska’s Northern Bering Sea, from future oil and gas exploration.
Trump countered, claiming that the U.S. has unmatched oil and gas resources, which he believes should be fully utilized. He criticized Biden for not understanding the significance of the ban, suggesting that the President didn’t realize the size of the area involved.
Trump also argued that the U.S. should not give up these valuable resources, calling them the country’s “greatest economic asset.” He vowed to reverse Biden’s decision “on day one” of his presidency.
Additionally, Trump took aim at some of Biden’s recipients of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, specifically mentioning George Soros, a Democratic donor, and suggested that Biden’s administration was making it harder for him to transition smoothly into office.
