Former President Donald Trump announced on Monday that he will attend the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner, a famous charity event in New York City.
At the same time, Vice President Kamala Harris plans to skip it. The white-tie event is known for bringing together top political figures who often poke fun at each other and current issues.
The Harris campaign confirmed to USA TODAY that she will not attend the dinner on October 17. Instead, she will focus on key battleground states with the election approaching.
The campaign also stressed Harris’s dedication to engaging with Catholic voters, saying she would attend the event as president if elected.
